Wollombi, Hunter Valley Wine Country

The Wollombi Valley, for many thousands of years an important meeting place for Aboriginal peoples, was settled by Europeans in the 1820s when the Great North Road went through Wollombi Village, which became the administrative centre for the district. It was not long before Wollombi was bypassed and it sat as a rural backwater for over a hundred years.

The village of Wollombi is at the heart of the Wollombi Valley, and the historic gateway to the Hunter Valley Wine Country.

Today the Wollombi community is vibrant and diverse. Rich in creative art, history, scenery and wildlife the Wollombi Valley is made up of hidden valleys, farms, vineyards, olive groves and lavender farms and surrounded by the ranges of National Parks. A diverse range of activities and accommodation can be found in the valley.
